Overview

The Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) conducts the Online Screening Test (OST) 2025 to recruit teachers for Army Public Schools (APS) across India, administered by Local Military Authorities and affiliated with CBSE. The OST will be held on 20–21 September 2025 (reserve dates: 22–23 September 2025) to select Primary Teachers (PRT), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT), and Post Graduate Teachers (PGT). The score card is valid for life, and passing the OST is preferred but not mandatory for interviews.

Teaching Posts

  • Post Graduate Teacher (PGT): For teaching classes IX–XII in subjects like Accountancy, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, English, etc. (Age: Below 40 years, or 40–55 with 5 years’ experience)
  • Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT): For teaching classes VI–X in subjects like English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, etc. (Age: Below 40 years, or 40–55 with 5 years’ experience)
  • Primary Teacher (PRT): For teaching classes I–V, including Physical Education (Age: Below 40 years, or 40–55 with 5 years’ experience)

Note

Vacancies will be announced by individual schools via newspapers, school websites, or notice boards. Appointments are transferable based on organizational needs.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications (as on 01 April 2025)

  • PGT: Post-Graduation with 50% marks + B.Ed. (წ (NCTE-recognized) with 50% marks. For PGT (Computer Science/Informatics): B.E./B.Tech (CS/IT), MCA, or equivalent. For PGT (Physical Education): B.P.Ed. (50–55%) + M.P.Ed.
  • TGT: Graduation with 50% marks + B.Ed. (NCTE-recognized) with 50% marks. For TGT (Computer Science): BCA, B.E./B.Tech (CS/IT), or equivalent.
  • PRT: Graduation with 50% marks + B.El.Ed./2-year D.El.Ed. or B.Ed. (for those in service before 11 Aug 2023, subject to Bridge Course).

Other Requirements

  • CTET/TET: Mandatory for TGT/PRT at the time of appointment (not for OST).
  • Age (as on 01 April 2025): Below 40 years (fresh candidates); 40–55 years with 5 years’ teaching experience in the appropriate category.
  • Proficiency: Teaching in English and Hindi; knowledge of computer applications.

Note

Candidates must comply with NCTE, KV Sangathan, and CBSE Affiliation Bye-Laws 2018. Post-Graduates with less than 50% in Graduation can apply for TGT/PRT if Post-Graduation marks are 50% or more.

Additional Requirements

Police Verification

  • Selected candidates must submit a police verification certificate within 30 days of joining.
  • Spouses of serving Army, Air Force, or Navy personnel can get antecedent verification from their spouse’s Commanding Officer/Formation Commander.

Teaching Skills and Computer Proficiency

  • Language teachers undergo a written test (essay and comprehension, 15 marks each) and teaching skills evaluation.
  • Selection committees may conduct computer proficiency tests for all candidates if desired.

Important Note

Failure to provide a police verification certificate or meet teaching/computer proficiency standards may lead to disqualification.

  • Valid Aadhaar Card
  • Mobile number and email ID (for OTP verification)
  • Photograph and signature
  • Proof of date of birth
  • Certificates of academic qualifications (Graduation/Post-Graduation, B.Ed./B.El.Ed./D.El.Ed.)

For Interview/Document Verification

  • Original and attested copies of educational certificates
  • CTET/TET certificate (for TGT/PRT, at appointment)
  • Proof of date of birth
  • Police verification certificate (within 30 days of joining)
  • Experience certificates (if applicable, for candidates aged 40–55)

Important Note

Discrepancies in documents or failure to submit required certificates may lead to disqualification without refund of examination fees.

Application Process

How to Apply

  1. Register online at www.awesindia.com between 05 June 2025 and 16 August 2025.
  2. Enter details using a valid Aadhaar Card, mobile number, and email ID for OTP verification.
  3. Upload photograph, signature, and academic certificates.
  4. Select three preferred examination centers.
  5. Pay the application fee of ₹385 online (UPI/Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking).
  6. Submit the form and keep a printout of the application.
  7. Download the admit card from 08 September 2025.

  • Apply separately for each post (PGT/TGT/PRT) if eligible.
  • Ensure all details match academic and identity documents.

Selection Procedure

  • Online Screening Test (OST): Computer-based, 200 MCQs, 200 marks, 3 hours, conducted on 20–21 September 2025. Negative marking of 0.25 per wrong answer. Score card valid for life; non-OST qualified candidates must pass within 2 years of appointment (50% marks).
  • Interview: Conducted by schools/clusters based on vacancies. Shortlisted candidates are called based on OST scores (preferred) and eligibility.
  • Evaluation of Teaching Skills and Computer Proficiency: Language teachers undergo a written test (essay and comprehension, 15 marks each). Computer proficiency tests may be conducted at the discretion of the selection committee.
